What Is Decoupage?!
So you may have seen/heard me mention this "decoupage" word well let me just explain what it is. When you look at my stock what is it you see? Well, it's decoupage!
Decoupage is a craft technique here is what Wikipedia has to say about it:
"Decoupage or découpage is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and other decorative elements. Commonly, an object like a small box or an item of furniture is covered by cutouts from magazines or from purpose-manufactured papers."
So as you can see I do not use coloured paper or even magazine cutouts, I use whatever beautiful papers I can find with nature and wildlife in mind.
For someone to perfect decoupage it must look as though it has been painted onto the object and as you can imagine, this takes a lot of time and effort. Some pieces can take hours of work to get such a good effect.
There are various different ways to do this particular craft and I do have my own technique which I am not going to tell you. It would be like Nanny Pat telling you the secret ingredient to her special winter stew!
